MARTOS staff engineer, Indairo Namnum was featured on last night’s Noticias broadcast as a structural engineering expert for the American Spanish-language television network Telemundo. Indairo was asked to remark on this week’s devastating parking garage collapse in Lower Manhattan that left one dead and many questions about the overall health of NYC buildings. In the video news clip seen here, Indairo is commenting that “you don’t want to see cracks on the columns or the ceilings” and “a suspended slab doesn’t have the soil to support it like a slab in grade.” Although MARTOS has no involvement or prior knowledge of this specific building, when asked, we felt obliged to offer some general structural engineering insight for Telemundo viewers.
MARTOS Engineering, PLLC provides structural engineering design services for projects of varying sizes and scopes including the renovation and preservation of existing structures, as well as the design of new buildings.
