MARTOS provided the structural engineering design for multiple locations of Roche Bobois, the French retailer of high-end furniture and accessories. This project location is in Greenwich, Connecticut and required various structural elements. Because the retail location is on the ground floor of an existing office building, our primary scope of work involved the design of a light gage truss that is suspended from the structure of the floor above to provide the appearance of a floating fireplace. The truss is designed to be hung off timber joists and a steel stiffening beam, it also conceals an existing steel column which is further used for additional support.
